From every angle this wedding photographer’s eye was tickled with the creative photographic opportunities that abound in this one single location. This incredibly unique venue, a historic working farm, is perfect for the discerning wedding couple, for whom aesthetics are of big importance to their most special day. Tucked away in the Hidden Hills of Haydenville, Massachusetts, Valley View Farm is an all encompassing wedding venue. From it’s breathtaking views of the Valley, sprawling fields of sunflowers, and countless rustic features and details, Valley View Farm is by far the most beautiful and romantic setting for your Western Massachusetts wedding.
Valley View Farm is quickly becoming one of the most sought after wedding venue’s in Western Massachusetts that offers many custom options for your wedding ceremony and reception. There is no need to have your guests driving to different locations, and they even offer two properties right on the farm in which you can stay the night. The convenience of all the activities and lodging in one location is a definite plus! Owners David and Suzy Fortgang have taken what was once a fallow farm and created what is now by far one of the Pioneer Valley’s most magical wedding destinations. Valley View Farm is a working farm, with historic barns, original farmhouse, heritage maple and apple trees, and three centuries of farming tradition.
“The stunning 19th century post and beam Skinner Yellow Barn at Valley View Farm was meticulously restored in 2015. The Yellow Barn was rebuilt with Suzy and David’s 15th anniversary celebration in mind. It is a museum-quality example of historic agricultural architecture, yet is thoroughly modernized for hosting your perfect wedding. The space is designed to capture the essential elements of openness and comfort and to inspire you and your guests to live the magic of the moment. The windows let the natural light in; while the original exposed beams, and hand wrought chandeliers with alabaster candles transport you. Every piece of the old Skinner barn was used to create this rustic beauty—even the bathroom walls are from the antique red barn wood. It is a labor of love for a celebration of love. The Yellow Barn can at Valley View Farm can accommodate 200 of your favorite people. It features 4,000 square feet of indoor space with 33-foot cathedral ceilings, a rustic cowboy bar, a hayloft lounge, and a full catering kitchen. The barn is fully heated and air-conditioned. The 12-foot windowed barn doors open onto a sprawling slate patio with views of High Ridge. The hanging lights in the patio lead you to a second adjacent reclaimed barn, the Pavilion.”
Valley View Farm also offers a Barn Pavilion, The Hemenway Barn, which was transferred from down the road where it stood on the Hemenway Farm from before 1771 to the present. They moved it to their farm beam by beam. The Pavillion stands open on all four sides, and brings the outside in, taking advantage of the farms big sky view. The Pavilion stands as an outdoor roofed space. Letting nature in for your wedding ceremony. Dinner and dancing at Valley View Farm can be inside or outside, it is all about what your prefer, at Valley View Farm you will have plenty of entertaining options!
Also available at Valley View Farm, is The Stone Barn which welcomes your guests as they arrive. “With a 200 year old natural slate roof and locally sourced stone walls it is simply ART. Barns are not built like this anymore, each stone cut and placed with many hands. This building is built to last hundreds of years and is the only Sugar & Cider barn of its kind. It is designed to look like the original milking barn that sat in its place in 1848. The beams and stones are all local, most from our land. It serves as a reliable meeting post, an awesome hide out, and a goofy party spot that will not be forgotten.”
And finally, as we mentioned earlier, lodging is also available right there on the farm. Valley View Farm offers two properties at the farm, which are available for rent for yourself or out of town guests. These can be booked using Airbnb.
The rustic 1850’s Farmhouse is a perfect place for out of town guests. It sits where the original homestead was built in the early 1700’s by John Miller, age 23. The Farmhouse has seven upstairs bedrooms (2 King, 1 Queen, 2 full and 2 twin), one kitchen, two bathrooms downstairs (one indoor and one outdoor shower), many sitting rooms. Washed and pressed sheets and clean towels available. The Farmhouse sleeps fourteen (14), includes two (2) shared bathrooms, and a kitchen.
While The Apple House is just a stone’s throw away from the Farmhouse and Yellow Barn. It is a modern three bedroom house with a full kitchen and two bathrooms (one bath/shower). The Apple house sits in the middle of an heirloom apple orchard that once was called The Orchards. The fully-updated Apple House sleeps eight (3 bedrooms and a pull out queen) includes 1.5 shared bathrooms, and a kitchen.
